Coming from knighted nobility, the Saint Mauris family originally came from Doubs, more specifically a small village today named Cours Saint-Maurice.
This family died out following the first world war and was pursued in the Huart family, one ancestor of which had married Olympe de Saint Mauris at the start of the 19th century.
The last members of the Saint Mauris family had left their archives and family collection to this Huart nephew, it being his responsibility to organize the conservation and to guarantee its integrity.
His heirs created the family foundation, whose descendents continue to ensure its continued existence; this branch of Huart-Saint Mauris is credited with the placement of the portrait collection, which you can see, at the Château de Saint Aubin, as well as the family archives which shall be open to researchers soon. |
